《八仙果》
八仙果主要效用是止咳化痰，尤其对喉痛很有帮助。包括单纯性的感冒所引起的喉咙痛、咳嗽，及抽烟导致喉干、喉痛症状，八仙果缓解效果都不错。但如果是典型气喘，也就是导因于气管痉挛、浸润或发炎的症状，这类下呼吸道造成的气喘或咳嗽，八仙果就没有显著效果。
就中医术语来说，八仙果对「热咳」有效，对「冷咳」比较无效。热咳是指一般感冒咳嗽，或是喉痛咳嗽时，气会往上冲的一种咳嗽。冷咳则是指气喘导致的过敏性咳嗽、老人性气喘（活动就咳，坐下就不咳）。
《Ba Xian Guo》
The main effect of Ba Xian Guo is to relieve cough and reduce phlegm, especially for sore throat. Including the sore throat and cough caused by a simple cold, and the symptoms of dry throat and sore throat caused by smoking, the eight immortals have good relieving effects. But if it is typical asthma, which is caused by symptoms of tracheal spasm, infiltration or inflammation, such as asthma or cough caused by the lower respiratory tract, the Eight Immortals will not have a significant effect.
In terms of traditional Chinese medicine, the Eight Immortals Fruit is effective for "hot cough" but less effective for "cold cough". Hot cough refers to a cough in which the breath will rush upward when a common cold cough or a sore throat cough. Cold cough refers to allergic cough caused by wheezing, and old-age wheezing (coughing when active, but not coughing when sitting down).
